A TONS QuickStart, release 0.0.8

Before you get disapponted, please remember that the TONS project is currently in a state where it is only useful for developers and people who are just curious. You can do virtually no real work with TONS yet. It will probably take some time before TONS becomes the valuable tool we intend to make it.

Still with us ? Good ! You're in for some FTP'ing and compiling.

• Get the TONS tarball (the main-page has the link).
  
• Extract the files, and read the two files ``TONS/README'' and ``TONS/INSTALL''.
• Go the the ``TONS/src'' directory
• Type ``make'' and see that everything compiles. It should.
• Start the ``nodeserv'' node server program
• Start another nodeserver with ``nodeserv 2001''
• In a new terminal, go to the ``TONS/src/examples'' directory.
• Type ``make'' once again, to build the examples
• Now, type ``../tonsd -c small.cdf fib10'' to calculate the 10th Fibonacci number (using the cluster description in small.cdf).
• If you're here, you're done. You have a running TONS !

The SSLUG SCICOMP mailing list will be used initially for discussions about TONS. You can sign up to this list by sending a message to the scicomp subscription address. The list language should be english, but occationally danish / swedish mails may slip thru. The list is currently low volume.
