Nick Sandru Gammel SSLUG'er på den anden side af den store andedam ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Thu, 30 Oct 2003 00:03:34 -0500 From: sslug@sslug Reply-To: sslug@sslug To: sslug@sslug Subject: scosug-talk: Next CCOSS (Central CT Open Systems Society) Meeting SCOSUG: Tentatively, the Central Connecticut Open Systems Society (CCOSS) is planning to have its next meeting at the Welles-Turner Memorial Library, 2407 Main Street, Glastonbury on Tuesday, November 4, 2003, at 7 PM. However, even though the overhead projector is back from service, it is not displaying anything on the screen. It was looked at today, Wednesday, by the librarians. We're waiting to see if it can be fixed. If it can't, we're going to postpone it until another date. We'll keep you posted. Nick Sandru is going to do a presentation called "Linux for My Mother", which is about both setting up the system (in such a way that it doesn't need any maintenance that cannot be done through an Internet connection or dial-in modem) and training the user(s) to do basic system administration tasks. He held it last year in Malmö, Sweden and Copenhagen, Denmark for SSLUG (Skåne Sjælland Linux User Group). The presentation itself is about 1/2 hour. There are some 30 slides that he has done with StarOffice. The rest of the time is for discussion/questions and answers. The program will be held in the Friend's Room, which is just inside on the left when you come in from the back parking lot. The program is free and open to the public. Directions can be found at "http://www.wtmlib.com/gi2.htm#directions". We are looking forward to seeing you there. CCOSS is a group of computer enthusiasts who are dedicated to learning and discussing open-source operating systems and software. Our Web site is www.ccoss.org.
