Hvorfor bruge Linux? - Why Linux? som reference.

Hej SSLUGger

Ind imellem har jeg behov for at kunne referere til hvorfor man nu kan
finde på at bruge Linux - helt nede på jorden, som alle forstår. Og også
gerne på engelsk - evt. på SSLUG.dk - Jeg synes det mangler på
http://en.sslug.dk/forening. Vær rare at stramme nedenstående tekst op,
rette evt. misforståelser og supplere !!

"Why use Linux?"

Linux Operative System (OS) is a head in front of our competitor(s) because:

1.Linux is a Society organized community that helps people to help each
other. Only support without involvement is normally commercial.
2.Linux OS is a very secure system: You do not in general work as
administrator on your system, no or few virusses exist, easy firewall
system and fast updates secure against hackers.
3.Even PC-equipment that is outdated for the resource-consuming
compeditors still work very efficient with Linux.
4.New Linux programs and backward convertible programms are constantly
developed (for also old PCs).
5.Very easy maintainance of software (basicly 2 command-lines to update
ALL programs).
6.As software of the selected Linux OS will remain open source and free
for ever (According to the GNU GPL licence:
http://www.gnu.org/licenses/licenses.html#translations).
7.The whole OpenSource society is very widespread – mostly on servers, but
is increasingly going to desktop also.

8.You continue to learn more how your computer works with the Linux OS due
to error codes you can copy and search for on the internet - compared to
errors of unexplainable collaps of the competitors.
9.The open source code of Linux garantie a continious development and you
can legally manipulate everything yourself (and distribute it as a new
distribution ;-).
10.Not only International English but the Linux society work on making
support really international for “all languages”.*
11.You can parcipitate in development of low to high level applications
and translations – which often result in well-paid jobs.

* Jeg ved ikke helt hvordan jeg kan beskrive det kort. Men mine erfaringer
udenfor hvor vi bruger vestlige karakterer (eks arabiske eller kinesiske)
er at sender man fra en Email, der indeholder ikke-ammerikanske karakterer
(eks ø i min <phillip bøgh> sslug@sslug til hvem-som-helst går det
godt, men deres svar eller reply får jeg aldrig hvis det er en
Windows-Email-server. Bruges reply fra en Linux-Email-server får jeg fint
reply-mailen !?
